Indirect effects of predation
Funded by the Max Planck Society, PhD Student Robin Abbey-Lee, Advisors: N.J Dingemanse
Predation avoidance is costly, and individuals must determine how best to balance the risk of predation with other needs. My project aims to understand how great tits (Parus major) cope with the threat of predation. In particular, I will study how great tits adjust breeding season behaviors in order to raise young in a risky environment. Building on previous work by my supervisor's group, I will also examine how personality differences in parents relate to breeding season decisions and offspring survival and anti-predator strategies.
